As a starter in Emirates, I was introduced the passed, present and future of Emirates this morning. However, the hospitality and romance side of Arabian has been revealled.

 

Like every other companies, CEO always make a demo for new comers to show his big welcome. Emirates does the same, but with their traditional way, sitting in Hajlis ( Arabic style room for meeting friends, offering Arabic coffee and cookies.)

 

Unlike other companies, besides those videos, Emirates made their own video to show that there will always be big chance in this big company. The video is quite creative. The main song is played and sung by all Emirates staff, including traditional folk tune, rap, and pop. All the staff with same uniform, different skin colour, sing the same song, dance in their way, and serve our customers happily. As we were told, here, in our uniform, we are no more Chinese, Phillipines, Europeans or Americans, we are all Emirates. This is kind of motivated and inspired.

 

The first Arabic words I learn is 'Shakran', means Thank you.

I live here, I like here. The way of Dubai cannot be changed, ok, me neither. Then I have mine.

No taxi? I take free ride. I use the local people's Benz car as taxi. Hahaha

 

No staff number for training? Ok, I told my coordinator that I am not worried, I can wait for the next training session, so that I will have more free time to enjoy the sunshine here.

 

No restaurant before 6:30p.m.? I will only go out after I am sure I am really really full.

 

Here is a programm called 'Dubai cares', which is to collect donation to help poor children finish their school. The Mayer of Dubai also attend the public advertise on TV. He says:' The success of one could be the success of others; the failure of one is the failure of all.'

 

I like this Arabic person. I think I will like this place.

 

 

The only transportation here is 'Taxi', wait for 30mins ( at least ) first, and then wait and see, if no, still another 30mins. 

The attitude of the driver, if he doesn't like your destination, he refuses to take you there. Then you just look at the car going away. Great!!!

 

If you make appointment with someone, when you get the Receiption desk, you will be told to wait for 'a while', at least above 15mins, and then, the person comes to you, saying 'just a second', another 10 or more mins.

 

Some offices, shops, and most of the restaurants open at 6:30p.m. No matter how hungary you are, how much you want the food, they only smile to you,and tell you, wait for 20mins, Fantastic!!!

 

If you get a new SIM card here, wait for 24 hours to have access. Arabic only work from 8:30---14:30 or 15:30 for most places.

 

What a fuck!!

 

EK303, landed at 3:40. The sky is still black and the air is a little humid. I can feel the hot weave still, but not that bad. I got the bag car to drive me through the airport, I got the visa permit, and I got my cell number. AFter all these annoying things, I got our chauffeur to drive us to the company accommodation. P.S. the car is Benz. I took shower and slept as soon as I can.

 

Shopping in Carefour in the afternoon, here is my shopping list with price on it. It is not so expensive as I imagined.

A big bag of bread AED3.00

6 big fruit yogurt ( 1set ) AED9.90

A big bottle of 7up AED3.00

A middle bag of orange  AED9.25

A set of cheese cake ( 4 to 5 fruit flavor )  AED5.50---AED10.00

All kinds of fruit juice  AED2.4---AED2.60
